Bruno Mars Sings for Patients

On Dec. 1, patients and families gathered in the 4th floor family room for a surprise visit from Bruno Mars as part of the Get Well Soon Tour.

The tour unites musicians to bring happiness and light to sick children through musical performances at hospitals around the world. As part of the effort, Austin Bisnow, a co-founder of the tour came for the visit. A musician himself, Austin welcomed the patients and families to the room, handed out bongos, tambourines and shakers and gave them the tools to jam with him as they waited for the surprise guest to arrive.

Selena Gomez fan and Children’s Hospital Los Angeles patient, Hana Hwang received the surprise of her 13-year-old life when the pop start showed up at the hospital for a surprise visit.

Hana’s tutor, Sara Kim, nominated Hana and her family as recipients for the KISSMAS Giving campaign on the 102.7 radio station in Los Angeles. Sara requested a care package and a Kindle for Hana, an avid reader.

However, when Ryan Seacrest learned that the 13-year-old Children’s Hospital Los Angeles patient is a devoted Selena Gomez fan, he immediately reached out to the young star.

Stars and Lights Twinkle at the 2011 Holiday Lighting Ceremony

Since 2005, Dan and Martha Cuñado have been spreading holiday cheer to patients at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles during the annual Holiday Lighting Ceremony.

In honor of the care provided by Children’s Hospital Los Angeles during their child’s stay, the Cuñado family have provided all the decorations and lighting for the event for the past six years, held in The Joyce and Stanley Black and Family Healing and Meditation Garden.

Manny Hernandez Goes Where No Patient Has Gone Before

It’s not often a young patient comes to the hospital smiling as brightly as 10-year-old Manny Hernandez was when he arrived at the Marion and John E. Anderson Pavilion on Sunday.

But this was no ordinary day at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.

Hernandez, who has been treated at Children’s for the past seven years, was the first patient moved into the newly-opened building.

We Have Moved!

Children’s Hospital Los Angeles has successfully moved into the new Marion and John E. Anderson Pavilion after a day spent transporting 191 inpatients into the 317-bed, seven story, state-of-the-art building designed for children and their families.

During the historic move into the 460,000 square-foot-structure, staff and volunteers worked from early Sunday morning until late in the afternoon when the last inpatient was brought inside the new building.

$350,000 Raised During ThinkCure! Weekend 2011

The fourth annual ThinkCure! Weekend at Dodger Stadium on June 24-26 was a huge success! This year’s weekend raised nearly $350,000 for cancer research.

Benefiting cancer research at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and City of Hope, the annual ThinkCure! celebration included radio programming, fan donations, a silent auction and celebrity involvement.
