U.S. News & World Report Names Children’s to Honor Roll … again!

Children’s Hospital Los Angeles has once again been named to the elite Honor Roll of children’s hospitals in the U.S. News & World Report rankings released online today. Only 11 children’s hospitals in the United States achieved “Honor Roll” status for 2011-12, and Children’s Hospital Los Angeles is the only hospital in California to receive this tribute.

Dream for Kids – The Grand Opening Gala

Nearly 1,500 supporters gathered Saturday evening in support of Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and helped raise $7 million, the most ever raised at a single event in the hospital’s history.

The event, proudly supported by AEG and presented by Starz, LLC, celebrated the completion of the new $636 million Marion and John E. Anderson Pavilion, opening July 10, at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. The magical evening also commemorated the hospital’s 110th anniversary.

March for Dimes, March for Babies

More than 50 Children’s Hospital Los Angeles staff and friends joined more than 15,000 families, children, and members of various organizations walking together for healthier babies at the March of Dimes, March for Babies event on April 30.

Children’s Hospital Los Angeles’ freestanding informational kiosk, with online educational information for parents with a baby in the NICU, is an example of how the March of Dimes helps improve the health and well-being of babies, children and moms-to-be.

Introducing the Marion and John E. Anderson Pavilion

Today, Marion Anderson, longtime supporter of Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, formally announced a $50 million transformative gift for the New Hospital Building (NHB) during an event at the hospital. The NHB will be known as the Marion and John E. Anderson Pavilion when the hospital begins to treat patients in the state-of-the-art facility July 10.

Versant RN Residents Recognized, Give Back to CHLA

The largest group ever to graduate from the Versant RN Residency at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles has made a gift to match its size.

Last month, 68 RN residents were recognized at The California Endowment Center during the 23rd RN Residency Recognition Ceremony.

The November 2010 group also gifted two “Family Thera-tea” carts to the hospital, which will be used for complimentary tea service offered to patient’s families throughout the hospital – the largest cohort gift ever!

Rear-Facing Car Seat Age Recommendation Update

The AAP now recommends that kids remain in rear-facing car seats at least until they are 2 years old. This recommendation has created a lot of buzz about car safety for kids in general, so I’m going to explain in detail the ins and outs of car seats, booster seats and seat belts.
