Diana’s Miracle Story

Fighting Leukemia’s War

By cancer survivor, Diana

My name is Diana Carolina Ceja. I am 21 years old and I am a cancer survivor.

To this day I am grateful to Jesus Christ and the doctors hands I was put into to survive Leukemia.

At the age of three and a half I was diagnosed with leukemia in my blood.  I was so little and, like a normal child, I didn’t know what was going on or what was happening to my body.

I didn’t know of illnesses. But I was treated at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.

I remember my doctor’s last name being Ortega. I wonder what ever happened to him. He was such an angel sent from heaven.

I received bone marrow transplants, blood transfusions, and spinal taps. I was growing up and, as a baby, I didn’t really realize how much pain I was in until I was in my adolescent years.

Throughout the process my hair fell out, I was sick all the time, I rejected food, and I refused to cooperate.

Yet there was those times when Disney characters would come in and make a child happy for a day. I was one of those children.

It was a hopeless time. My father wasnt much about religion. But my mother, on the other hand, was. She prayed and prayed until one day my moms uncle came in and left a Bible by where i laid.

At first, my father refused to read it, even though he had begged on his knees to Jesus Christ to save me and he would give his life just to make sure i would live and be a normal child. So, a day came when my father got the urge to read the bible. As soon as he opened the Bible he read the words in Psalm 91, “The Lord is My Savior.”

As soon as he started reading, I became hungry, wanted to eat, and the more he read, the hungrier I was. The doctors came in hurriedly and surprised. They asked ‘what happened?’.

At the time, I was going on 8 years of age, and by the time I was 13 years of age, I was in remission.

To this day, I thank God and all the doctors that contributed to my recovery.

I am thankful always. I hope this story touched the lives and hearts of people.  For every problem there is a solution and having faith is one of the main factors.

Thank you for allowing me to share my story!
