
This summer, I went to Panama with a group of fellow architecture students from the University of Southern California, and I learned something about myself . . . that I really want to do something for the greater good of humanity.

This year, with the help of Dr. Kaufman, I changed the way I measure my sugar levels. My mom got me a continuous glucose monitor which is a small sensor that I wear all the time that communicates with the insulin pump that I keep in my riding pants pocket. It alerts me when my sugar levels are too high or too low.

To this day, I thank God and all the doctors that contributed to my recovery.
I am thankful always. I hope this story touched the lives and hearts of people. For every problem there is a solution and having faith is one of the main factors.

Paige was transported to Children’s Hospital on June 11, 2009 because she had been born with a congenital diaphragmatic hernia. One day later she had developed pulmonary hypertension.
As soon as Paige arrived at the hospital, she was placed on ECMO to help provide oxygen for her tiny body. She was cared for by some of the best nurses ever.
